In love

Love is patient, love is kind,I'm in love with you.

It does not envy, it does not boast, I'm in love with you.

Love is not proud, It is not rude, I'm in love with you.

Love is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, I'm in love with you.

Love keeps no record of wrongs and does not delight in evil,I'm in love with you.

Love rejoices with the truth, it always protects, I'm in love with you.

Love always trusts, always hopes, I'm in love with you.

Love always perseveres,I'm in love with you.

Love never fails,I'm in love with you.

I have heard several people in the last year refer to " the love passage in the scripture as Cliche. I am pretty sure that my mouth dropped open every time I heard it and my heart was sad. We do not know so much about love, and what we do know is but a small amount. How could we, we are but selfish beings. True love means that I lay down my life, my selfish desires, for others. Laying down my life for others is so impossible for me. That is why I need Jesus Christ.

Cliche:
1 : a trite phrase or expression; also : the idea expressed by it
2 : a hackneyed theme, characterization, or situation
3 : something (as a menu item) that has become overly familiar or commonplace

Love, is not cliche and the idea of love is not cliche. Though the ideas that this world has believed about love sometimes are.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (NIV)

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Dancing in Denver

I said yes, when my friend asked me if I wanted to go dancing at a downtown cafĂ© in Denver. My friend assured me that there were lessons before hand, and you didn’t need a partner. I grew up listening to the greats, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, and Benny Goodman. But, until the night that I went dancing with my friend, I hadn’t fully appreciated what I loved listening too so much. The cover charge was seven dollars, and that included an hour of east cost swing lessons, and a live big band performance following, where I practiced what I had just learned in the lesson. It was a welcoming community of people those dancers. I met a few men that had been dancing for years, and said how exited they were that the young people were starting to really dance again. One gentleman in particular named Max, who, I noted, could kick his legs up higher than I could, and never seemed to tire. He danced every dance, and on that first n...

Beautiful Family!

I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, Because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.             Philemon 1: 4-7 This past weekend, I had a taste of what I know in my heart Our God has in mind for us as his creation, a taste of something good. My beautiful family, Oh how rich I feel after being in fellowship with them younger or older they may be. I feel full, and yet filled with longing too, a longing for the day when we will be made new in every way. As I think of our time this weekend together, I realize in my heart that there were so many things about the time that were not perfect, many dynamics of family that have a...

Working hard resting well.

It is a blessed day, when one doesn’t have to be woken up by an alarm. The best feeling is the one where you slowly stir out of the dream and gain awareness of the place where you are. Your eyes have not yet let in the first light of the day and you lay there taking in an awaken passĂ© of breathing. The best feeling is knowing that you don’t have to get out of bed at a rush and you don’t have to rush to the bathroom or rush to take a shower or get dressed. The best part of a day off is when you’ve worked hard the two previous days, and therefore are even more grateful to go slow and take in a day of your own speed.
